Radiology began when Dr. Marvin McClow accepted a position as Chief of Radiology at St. Vincent\u2019s upon completion of his Radiology Residency at Northwestern University in 1951. Dr. and Mrs. McClow moved their family to Jacksonville. At that time, St. Vincent\u2019s had one x-ray room on the 4th floor. Dr. McClow began building a department. He led the formation of the School of Radiology Technology in 1951, still one of the best in the area. A new department was constructed on the first floor of the center wing. Dr. Clark and Dr. Marvin Berk joined the practice. Dr. Berk was a neuroradiologist and worked with St. Vincent\u2019s to obtain an EMI CT Brain scanner, the area\u2019s first in 1976.<\/p><p>Dr. McClow was a strong proponent of mammography and St. Vincent\u2019s was chosen as one of the 28 centers in the Breast Cancer Detection Demonstration Project from 1973-1978. St. Vincent&#8217;s was the only non-academic site chosen.<\/p><p>Dr. McClow was a good leader and spent time as President of the medical staff and President of the Florida Radiological Society.<\/p><p>Known for many years as Drs.
